I have been attempting to tackle my games backlog in (more or less) chronological order and write a little something about each game. "Chronological order" refers to the earliest release date of each game, not the release date of the version I played (for example, Super Mario Bros. release date would be considered 1985 for the original NES release, even if I played the Super Mario All-Stars version on SNES). There are occasions where I skipped ahead due to being eager to play a certain game, or skipped over a game and returned to it later.
Additionally, I have no qualms about using save states or rewind when available to make things easier on myself, especially considering that in many older games, the only reason for a lack of save was the technology wasn't there, or arcade games wanting to munch your quarters. Particularly in cases where the developers added save states to an official rerelease (such as on the NES classic mini), I feel it's fair game.
